God’s Creativeness in Kabbalah and in People

Kabbalah - Kabbalistic

Many religious doctrines teach us that the climax of God’s creation is humanity: a male and a female. However, even assuming that creativeness of God has a climax is similar to believing that the universe has an end. According to Kabbalah, the infinite quality of God is in his ability to give, emanate and expand all the time, not just within the 7 days of creation (to be more exact, 6 days of creation and one day of rest). Kabbalah explains that our inability to understand how the infinity works proves that humanity is still on the certain stage of its development which doesn’t make understanding “godliness” possible for most of us. However, Kabbalah also teaches that God is not done in his creative expression, and that is why there is a potential for us to be godlike, inherit his infinite quality of creativeness and emanate it in our world. That is why we discover new ideas, new concepts, and new knowledge in ourselves, which are also God’s manifestations and his way of living the beautiful life of fulfillment.

Everything in the nature and the universe is a proof of God’s undying creativeness. A small seed gives life to a blooming tree, which in its turn produces fruit and many new seeds. Enormous galaxies collide and crash with each other but they merge and create new cosmic formations. Energy does not die – it turns into a different type of energy, which is an act of creation by itself. This is what our world is like. If we look at these concepts of life from Kabbalah closer, we can see that death in our understanding does not really exist. Death is just a change of condition.

When it comes to us personally, Kabbalah says that by following the path of our God we follow our own hearts. No matter how hard you search for the answer, you will always see one and the same thing: creating and giving are the vital, essential part of your existence and spiritual development. People who give and create always say that they have happy lives, because they experience the feeling of fulfillment by doing what God would do. Creation is a great gift of life that we are given to explore.

    Dear Rabbi:
I believe everything you say here. Hashem never meant for us to be his slaves who can only see, hear and experience, but cannot create. And that’s what my parents don’t understand.
I want to play a guitar in a band, but my mom and dad think that it’s bad behavior. I try to explain to them that it is an act of creation for me. It makes me feel good and helps me express myself. I’d rather play guitar than bum around with guys in the streets and take drugs.
They don’t understand that if I have no guitar in my life, I don’t enjoy living.
Recently I found myself interested in Kabbalah, when one of the band members asked us to try and play Kabbalah music. I found your site and I enjoy reading your posts.
Do you think you could find some time and help me with an advice, like you help others? I wish my parents saw that what I do is not a bad thing. Is there any “kabbalistic” way to persuade them?
    Cheers!

    Dear Robbie,
The only way to persuade them that you’re doing a good thing is making them like it. Kabbalah teaches us that people can see your point of view better when you address to it from their perspective. I can imagine that your parents do not like your hobby because they probably do not enjoy the kind of music you play. Different generations have different tastes and different perception of the same things. Why don’t you find out what style of music they like, their favorite song, then learn how to play it and play it for their anniversary or other important event? That will show your consideration for them and make them appreciate your art more.
No argument can be solved when people are just contradicting and acting against each other. However, when they find a way to compromise, beautiful results can be achieved.
    My blessings and best wishes,
    Rabbi Azulai.
