72 Names of God

Jewish mysticism, Kabbalah - Kabbalistic

According to Kabbalah no sound or combination of sounds is a true name of God. What we call God is merely a reflection of our experience with the celestial powers. That is why there are so many names of God. Some of them refer to the extreme being, universe, protection or spirituality. However, in the Exodus - the second book of the Old Testament - we find 72 sound combinations which are capable of bringing miracles (like the parting of the Red Sea) when used on a daily basis.

They are called 72 names of God because they provide a mortal human with divine powers of creation. Each of the 72 names consists of 3 sounds: a source of positive energy, a source of negative energy and a connection to the earth. The 72 names of God are considered to be useful and healing for a human soul as they are believed to purify the spirit, transform the energy from the invisible plain and cast it upon the humans who can use it as they thinks best. 72 names are commonly used by Kabbalah adherents in spiritual meditation and daily practices.
